Forty-Year-Old Suburban Mom to Make 1000 Free Throws for Charity
Jackie Arnold, a 40-year-old suburban housewife and mom, has pledged to make 1,000 free throws in five hours to raise awareness of Mowat-Wilson Syndrome and raise funds for the MWS Foundation. Jackie’s son Logan, who is 13 years old was diagnosed with MWS in 2011. MWS is a very rare genetic disorder, with less than 350 diagnosed cases in the US.
The idea for Free Throws for Logan was hatched about 3 years ago when Jackie was looking for a way to put her unique free throw shooting skills to use. She just happens to shoot at about an 88% clip, which is better than 90% of college and pro basketball players. Though Logan loves all kinds of sports, he especially likes watching his mom swish shot after shot.
The event will take place April 15th at Woodstock Middle School in Woodstock, GA. The local community is invited to come and cheer Jackie on. Attendees can also show their own shooting skills by competing in a “Beat the Mom” contest. Jackie is practicing 2-3 times a week at Pure Shot Basketball in Woodstock, GA to get her shot in perfect form for the event.
