Ride for MWS – Team Bella – Ultra Niagara 500-Mile Challenge
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
We are thrilled to announce the upcoming Ride for Bella and Mowat-Wilson Syndrome: Ultra-Niagara 500, a 500-mile bike ride dedicated to raising awareness and funds for Mowat-Wilson Syndrome (MWS). Organized by Rodrigo Meireles, father of Bella, who was born with MWS, this incredible journey will take place from Niagara Falls to Brewster, NY, over five days, covering up to 100 miles each day. The ride will commence on July 30th and culminate on August 3rd, with August 4th as a spare day.
“The challenge we have set for ourselves is to cover 100 miles, (160km) each day for five consecutive days, a total of 500 miles, (800km). This is symbolic of the challenges faced by families raising special needs children, highlighting the resilience and determination required to overcome them.”
The Ride for Mowat-Wilson Syndrome aims to shed light on this rare genetic disorder affecting individuals worldwide. By embarking on this remarkable journey along the Empire State Trail, we seek to raise awareness of the challenges faced by individuals with MWS and their families, while emphasizing the importance of research, support, and community engagement.
The Empire State Trail, a historic project connecting New York City with the Canadian Border, will serve as the route for the ride. This trail predominantly consists of “rail trails” and “Canal way trails,” providing mostly flat terrain and minimal elevation changes, making it an ideal path for our ambitious endeavor.
In addition to raising awareness, the Ride for MWS will serve as a fundraising initiative for the Mowat-Wilson Syndrome Foundation. The funds raised through this event will contribute to vital research, medical advancements, and programs dedicated to enhancing the lives of those affected by Mowat-Wilson Syndrome.
We invite individuals, organizations, and corporations to join us in this noble cause. There are several ways you can support the Ride for Mowat-Wilson Syndrome: Ultra-Niagara 500:
